Recovered from George Spahn's House After Fire

Manson Family 1969 Relic

These pennies were unearthed from the ground beneath George Spahn's house at Spahn's Ranch. After the fire, the remnants of the house and its contents were simply left in place. Among all the items recovered, coins were the rarest relics, each showing signs of fire damage and carrying various dates, including several from 1968 and 1969. Approximately 25 coins were found, buried about four feet deep directly under George's house.

Exclusive to Backporch Tapes, How I Obtained the Rock

For nearly forty years, I’ve been collecting and preserving pieces connected to Charles Manson and the Family, artifacts and fragments that history was ready to erase. Much of what you’ll find here exists nowhere else. These are exclusive, one-of-a-kind relics that survived only because chance, timing, and a stubborn sense of preservation stepped in.

One of the most significant pieces in this collection is what I call "Manson’s Music History Rock". Its story began by pure accident in 1999, when the Spahn's Ranch property, once the Family’s home base, was being sold off from the estate of Frank Retz. The land was being divided into lots, and a local church had claimed ownership over the area where the rock stood, the same rock where Charles Manson once sat and played his music for the Family, and famously for Terry Melcher, the producer whose rejection changed the course of history.

When the church began removing anything connected to Manson, including the rock itself, I stepped in. Armed with survey maps proving they didn’t own the property, I stopped the demolition, but by then, the rock had already been broken apart. Pieces were scattered across the ground, freshly cut and forgotten. I gathered a bucketful of fragments, and for twenty-six years, they remained untouched, until now.

Each "Manson Music History Rock" relic you see here was created from that very rock, the last surviving remains of a piece of American music and crime history. Every item is handcrafted and accompanied by a C.O.A. there is a postcard showing Manson’s original rock in the picture, with his initials carved into it during his time at Spahn Ranch.

These are not just collectibles, they are preserved echoes of a moment that shaped the world’s most infamous story. Only at "Backporch Tapes" will you find these authentic, exclusive relics, rescued, restored, and reimagined into living history.

 The Backporch Tapes Collection...

A Collection That Time Never Buried

Step inside a world where history, infamy, and art collide. For generations, collectors have been drawn to the dark side of history, owning relics once tied to crime, mystery, and legend.

From fragments of Bonnie and Clyde’s bullet-riddled clothing to the very electric chairs that ended a life, crime collecting has long been a fascination that bridges curiosity with the chilling touch of reality.

Here, that same spirit lives on. I’ve taken authentic pieces connected to Charles Manson and the Manson Family, objects once scattered through the wreckage of one of America’s most infamous stories and transformed them into collectible works of art. Each piece carries the weight of truth, the echo of the past, and the intrigue of what was once hidden.

You’re not just collecting, you’re preserving a moment in time. Welcome to the place where crime history becomes living art CharlesMansonFamily.com.

Welcome to the Charles Manson Family

Where the past still speaks, if you listen close enough.

Pull up a chair and stay awhile. Here on the Backporch, history isn’t just something you read about, it’s something you can hold in your hands. From my YouTube channel to this collection, "Backporch Tapes" is all about preserving the strange, the forgotten, and the stories that never stopped echoing through time.

For years, crime relics have captured the curiosity of collectors, fragments of Bonnie and Clyde’s final moments, the chilling remnants of old prison cells, or the printed words that once told the tale of Jack the Ripper. People have always wanted to "touch" the story.

That’s what I do here. I’ve taken authentic pieces connected to Charles Manson and the Manson Family, bits of the desert, forgotten items, and relics from the Barker Ranch, and turned them into one-of-a-kind collectible art. Each piece is part truth, part history, and part resurrection of the past.

So whether you’re here for the art, the story, or the connection to a darker piece of American history, welcome. You’ve found the place you’ve been looking for.
