Me in the authentic movie worn "Scream" costume around Halloween 2010 at Spahn's Ranch.

"If you are going to do something leave something witchy, leave a sign to let the world know you was there and have a good day.” That was a famous quote from Charles Manson in an interview with Diane Sawyer. The word witchy is the one that scared people, leaving viewers’ minds open to their own interpretation of what it really meant. Did he mean “leave messages in blood at murder scenes”? Manson talks of witches and magic in several of the interviews he did with the media over the years, and the friends of his would reinforce this thought that goes with this guy; they witnessed witchy events happen around this story that is Charles Manson. One of the Manson girls was interviewed for a popular book and said she saw Manson breathing on a dead bird and brought it back to life. Vincent Bugliosi affirmed that Charles Manson stopped his watch in court by just looking at him with an evil stare. These people seem to believe what they saw with their own eyes. Those types of occurrences also come with lots of speculation and doubts, because they certainly show no proof to back the claim up except to say “take my word for it”.

All this witchy talk of dead birds coming back to life and watches stopping sounds like hocus pocus and would make one wonder if this is just fifty-year old rumors fuelled by drugs, drama and gossip that has now become some bizarre legend of truth around Manson. I wasn’t actually in some search to investigate into if magic existed around this bizarre story from 1969 but- by coincidence or some path - the universe had set me on. I have run into several strange events along the way that involves the family Manson and this witchy story. The bad part was that these weird episodes would happen when I would least expect them and have nothing to document them with, like a camera or phone. On one occasion, I was walking through the creek down in an area where the brush is thick and the canyon is deep. It is located between the Susan Atkins’ Baby Caves and the Life Magazine cave. I was paying most attention not to step on or run into a rattlesnake, so my mind was on red alert already thinking of my own demise. All of a sudden I heard girls singing. At first I thought someone else was down there hiking along with me, so it didn’t startle me. I stopped and listened closer trying to figure out where the sound was coming from and it seemed as if it was getting closer and closer. It then sounded walking right past me: at that point the chill bumps came. I was standing there wondering “what the hell just walked by me singing?” Well, this is only another dead bird and a stopped watch story if you cannot document it! One thing I have learned from being in court for years is if you don’t have it on paper, tape, video, or a witness it didn’t happen.

The Manson Family Cave at the Spahn Ranch with the girls and I 30 years apart..

Those are the kind of stories you can tell people at parties or write in a blog, but do the readers or listeners actually believe you? I know what I heard but I don’t expect a person to take me on my word because - if the shoe was on the other foot -I would want to hear it with my own ears, and until then it would make me a bit skeptical not witnessing it myself. I don’t expect anyone to believe the story of girls who walked by me singing - girls I didn’t even see myself - but this was the Manson family life at Spahn Ranch and I did think it was a bit weird . I immediately stopped minding the rattlesnakes and now was focusing on Manson girls. It all seems like the beginning of a bad ghost story I wouldn’t myself believe it anymore than I believe Bugliosi’s watched stopped. When it comes to haunted, cursed, ghosts I want to be able to see with my own eyes to judge it properly, so the girls singing means nothing if you can’t hear it with your own ears. There would be no reason to write an article of witchy things if all I am going to do is tell you what I witnessed and then you must only take my word for it to come to a conclusion.

With that said, it was on several occasions I would get those strange events on film, and some of the time I would have no idea I was even capturing something until I would look at it eventually . It was like getting some sort of messages I would find very witchy and it is all happening around things related to Manson. The latest weird episode occurred just last Saturday August 28, 2021 at the Spahn Ranch, down by the cave that Life went to film the girls they would refer to as the Manson Family at. This incident has really made me think hard of what is going on there. First it shocked me, and then it made me extremely happy. It also got me to questioning “do I even want to visit there anymore? “ . It freaked me out for a minute, and then I started to realize how many people write ghost stories about Spahn Ranch, Barker Ranch and Charles Manson. I should document all the weird experiences I have had at Spahn and Barker Ranches around this Manson story that I have so closely followed since- basically - I could read in Jr. High School.

I am also a fan of those horror and ghost stories or haunted places, where creepy things are said to happen to the unsuspecting. It has become a cottage industry on television these days; it seems they have ghosts on contract with scripts and lines. I can’t complain about Ghost shows though unless I am also willing to be a critic of the one I appeared in. They have showed it on the history channel every Halloween for the last 7 years. It has become a sort of Halloween show for the cable network like Rudolph is to Christmas. I must admit I love being part of the History Channels tradition for “31 days of Halloween” because it is one of my favorite holidays ever since I was a child and I would be lying to you if I said I wasn’t anything but honored to be in a spooky tradition like this . It is part of the Haunted History series and it is called the “Manson Murders” (episode 2 of the season including episodes about Salem Witches, Dracula, Wolf man, evil possession, the Torso Murders and Frankenstein’s monster). Behind that programming content, it has become one of the Halloween favorites of theirs since 2013.

Haunted History The Manson Murders I have lizard hands here.

The programs are fun to watch around that time of the year, but I am not even sure if any of these television Ghost stories are true or if they are just some dramatized over or under exposed film all for entertainment made just for Halloween. I was involved in one of these Haunted Documentaries and like 7 other ones as well, so I understand very much how they work. They sit you down and ask you hundreds of questions of all the things you can think of that happened to you; most of the questions they ask don’t even apply to your particular story, they just search for a story. They basically take your story add details, twist it, take your interviews and add them in completely out of context to the questions they asked you. Then they try to scare people with a Haunted show. The creepiest thing of about being in one of these Haunted Documentaries is how you will sound when your interview is cut and pasted into parts and pieces into the show. Hollywood magic can make you come across as saying something you didn’t actually say.

For an example, they can ask you “Have you ever seen a ghost?”. You answer “no”. Then they ask many other questions in that day such as “you met Manson right, oh yes, what it was like meeting Manson”. Answer: “He was very mysterious and he sort of scared me at first glance, but we warmed up to each other fast”. In the televised documentary they ask you did you see a ghost and your answer is now “Oh yes, he was very mysterious and sort of scared me”. In the film industry that is a common practice in many documentaries; it even has its own name and way of referring to what they have done: they call it “Franken-bites”. It is a fitting name because they totally chop up films to recreate dialogues and making them sound bite piece by piece to say whatever they want it .These are the things you learn the hard way in this industry and it is one of the biggest complaints of the people interviewed for them. So, when it comes to ghost stories, I am also very skeptical of the motive behind them and the way they show it on television.

Mine isn’t a ghost story, though. I haven’t seen a ghost there or anywhere: what I have witnessed is nothing but witchy events and this is what I am going to explain to the best of my recollections. I have been going to Spahn Ranch for several decades and have investigated many peculiar sites there. One I was onto for a few years was the area around where one of the Manson victims was murdered then buried until Steven Grogan - one of the friends of Manson in 1969 who was called Clem - gave up the location and was then released from prison on parole. I took some of that information from that police investigation, went looking around and then digging around. Being a collector I would find something I would generally keep it and mark a date on it altogether with the location where it was found. From the reports of the police one of the pages had the exact spot of the body on it. It was on a map from a book called a Thomas Guide, it reported the year they dug him up. His body was marked on the letter A in the Santa part of the Pass Road. I eventually found that area from that same map book and had even gone to the extreme to make a sieve and sifted dirt from the grave site through it. I took fragments I found there and kept them in a box marked Shorty’s bones. I had also found some other items there including a pipe and an old pipe wrench I took it all and would keep it for the next 25 years in a box in my garage. It was marked Shorty but I didn’t actually think it was bones of Shorty Shea the murdered ranch hand from Spahn Ranch, but they were bones and they did come from his grave. I told a few collectors back then and even gave them small pieces from what I had found and – yes, of course- I told them I had Shorty’s bones.

Bones found in Shorty's Grave December 1987

As I have already explained, when Hollywood comes around they ask all sorts of questions digging for a story and most of the times when it’s around this subject of Manson they want to know about more bodies and dead people. They always ask the same things, like “do you know of any other people Manson killed?” and I tell them I can’t even think of a person he did kill let alone more. The closest evidence showing that Manson committed murder is Shorty Shea and I am assuming the reader has basic background knowledge in the Helter Skelter crimes to even know who Shorty was, but is it is the only murder scene Charles Manson was proven to be at while the person was actually killed. I am not even sure that is true of Shorty’s case either but we will assume he was from the facts that came out in trail. The 2019 movie “Once upon a time in Hollywood” by Quentin Tarantino had an old washed up Hollywood actor and his stunt double in it, and that stuntman character was loosely based on Shorty Shea.

Well, that was the Eighties and later I would start poking around closer to Spahn Ranch and on the property itself, walking around and looking for things from magazines and books. One day I was at the area where Life Magazine filmed the Manson girls in front of a rock opening cave like formation along the creek on the Spahn Ranch property when the owner at the time holding a gun yelled at me and asked me what the hell was I doing there . He also told me to get out. That man’s name was Frank Retz and he shook me a bit . I meant no harm, so I left and didn’t go back there again. That is until I read on the news in 1998 that the guy who had chased me off died there in a car accident. I watched them pull him out in the rain and put him into the coroners van and drove him away it was Frank Retz last day there.

Video of Frank Retz being pulled out dead from Spahn's Ranch

It wasn’t long after that I started going back and had noticed many of his tools lying around there and I would collect some souvenirs of Spahn Ranch up because this man was also present when the Manson Family was: those tools may have been too. Frank Retz may have even been a connection to why Shorty was murdered years before, it was rumored Frank enlisted Shorty’s help to rid the Manson Family from the ranch so he could buy it from George Spahn and turn it into something similar to what Michael Jackson would do with an amusement park at his house. Frank wanted to turn Spahn Ranch into an attraction for German people to visit and this was all back in 1969. When Frank’s car wrecked into the bottom of the creek at Spahn Ranch in 1998 it made a huge hole in the earth and pieces of his automobile were still stuck in the mud along with police tape. Yes, very creepy! Since I collected those pieces, it became a sort of a dark tourist souvenir of a person I once ran into and all these relics kept going into boxes in my garage.

On Set at Spahn Ranch with Death Dealers

In 2011 I was involved on a production that would eventually air on the Science Channel about buying and selling morbid artifacts. The show was called DEATH DEALERS. In preproduction I was on a Skype meeting with the production assistant and they were looking for story lines around Manson that people hadn’t heard much of , so I told them about Shorty , the pipe and the wrench I found in his grave. They were so excited at the mention of a pipe in a grave that they stopped me there and wanted me to get this murder pipe so they could see it for themselves.

Pictures of the pipe and police photo's from Skype meeting.

We would eventually do the show based on Shorty with an examiner to determine if a pipe killed him and could have it been this specific one. The medical examiner gave his opinion on camera and stated that it could have been the weapon that killed him, but he was undetermined if it was this particular one. There was just no way of being certain of it. This is when the creepy events started happening at Spahn Ranch: I gave myself a pause and started wondering if it was some sort of a twilight zone episode I was in .

On the set of Death Dealers at Spahn Ranch

On these documentaries and reality shows you end up spending a lot of time with people and get to know them be it producers, sound guys, the cameramen or other talents on the show, befriend them and that friendship can last long after that production. They are not only people you have worked with now; they have also become contacts of yours. To capture the prosperity of the production you will usually get a group photograph of the entire crew on set. They don’t allow you to have cameras, some professional photographers they hire would take the pictures and send them too you. Death Dealers was a first for me so I really wanted a picture with the crew of this film and made sure I asked them several times not to forget to send it to me.

During the production of Death Dealers filming from the spot Shorty was killed.

The lead Cameraman informed me he would not forget and it the cave one was the last picture taken and is very easy to find. It would be several weeks later when I got an email with the photograph of me and the crew of DEATH DEALERS taken at the infamous life magazine cave at Spahn Ranch. At first glance I thought it was a joke because the only person who was showing up in the picture was the main lead cameraman, the rest of the people in it were blurry. I immediately emailed him back asking him if this was some sort of a joke because I couldn’t see myself in it. I really thought he was pulling my leg with knowing how badly I wanted it so he must have punked me, then would eventually send me a clear copy where I could see myself in it at least. Well, that never happened. All I ever got was the photograph from the lead cameraman and all I can see is him in it.

Photo of crew of Death Dealers at Manson Cave at Spahn Ranch

I emailed him probably 10 times without an answer back and it really began to bug me all I was going to get was some blurry photograph of the crew! I began to search online to see if he had maybe posted a clear picture of us someplace. That was when, to my surprise, I found him online all over the place. The reason why his face was showing in the picture and nobody else was becoming evident in my mind. I feel like I was in that episode of the twilight zone and I had become the horrified sweating character in it they called Fitz.

The first place I found him online was in the Los Angeles Times and then others all saying the same thing, “Three people, including the pilot and a cast member, were killed in a helicopter crash early Sunday morning at the Polsa Rosa Ranch in a remote area near Soledad Canyon Road in Acton.” The third person they don’t mention in the article was the cameraman whom sent me the picture of us in the cave and his face was the only one I could see.

I also love Hollywood history and go looking for it and the more drastic the better to me. As the old saying goes be careful what you wish for because it just may come true.

"The Purple Testament" Season one episode nineteen of the television series The Twilight Zone. It is "the story of a man who can forecast death". Fitz, a lieutenant serving in World War II, suddenly gains the mysterious ability to see who is about to die via a strange glow on the person's face was now coming to mind. And another interesting fact from the Los Angeles Times article, that I found quite ironic, mentioned this: “ The helicopter crash in Acton was the worst film set accident in California since 1982, when star Vic Morrow and two child actors were killed by a helicopter that crashed into them during filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie.” Irony is getting thick because Vic Morrow also filmed several times around or on Spahn Ranch from his appearances in The Rifleman and Bonanza so yes he too had been on the Santa Susana Pass road himself. Both helicopter crashes happened in the same city limits of Santa Clarita, California as well. Another fact from the Twilight Zone series I find interestingly ironic similar is a “Blurryman” actually did appear in the background of every season one “Twilight Zone” Episode and the “Blurryman” was Rod Sterling himself. I was thankful I played the part of the Blurryman in the photo we took, but my heart still goes out to the cameraman and his family. I think of him frequently, he was a good man and friend.

I never told anyone this story before. I perceived all from one photo the weird Blurryman and Fitz experience of interchanging in between film legend and film history, but to me I could hear Rod Sterling’s voice in my head saying “this week's current edition of make believe is being shot on location and that location is the Twilight Zone”.

The next witchy incident at the cave would occur a few years later while there with a few friends just talking when out of nowhere a strange voice in a strange tone said my name “MICHAEL” and this time I wasn’t the only one who heard it: now I had witnesses. Bruce Fox had his camera running and caught that on tape so it is something you can listen to. The camera on a tripod and running it was all organic and as far as a set up or some joke I can guarantee you it wasn’t. This really happened there. You can watch that video below and make up your own mind on what you think you just heard. I honestly thought immediately of Frank Retz, the guy who once met me at that very spot with a gun but I had no clue what it was and just shook it off that day.

Thinking it was Frank Retz calling my name could have been a bit premature because in 2016 I would find out something that would surprise me even more of how deep I had climbed into this portal, looking for a horror story only to find out I have become part of the tale now.

The voice that calls out Michael at Spahn's Ranch

It also happened during a preproduction meeting but this time it was with the History Channel. Again like ground hog day they start asking me almost the exact same questions as they all do. “Who else do you know of Manson killed besides Sharon Tate?” Well, this time I had heard that question from these people too many times and sarcastically blurt out, Shorty Shea and I have his bones in my garage! These meetings are in high class neighborhoods in high rise building in Los Angeles that have offices with glass walls and glass conference tables with high class executives all seated around them. That stopped everyone in their tracks and nobody said anything for what seemed like ages, all staring at me. Then they got extremely excited and wanted to know more of these bones, so I told them the story of how I got them from his grave from old police maps around 1986. I said I figured them to be just animal bones because Shorty had been taken from his grave. One interesting rumor, I also filled them in of how the Police had not found one of his hands and it was supposedly still at the ranch someplace. With this information they asked if they could have the bones tested and upon agreement they contacted a DNA clinic in Colorado and sent a courier with a Fed Ex envelope to my door then was overnight shipped to be tested. They never got any film of me explaining how I found these bones because- honestly- they too thought they were just animal bones, but even with that it would still make for more drama in the 2 part documentary on Manson and they didn’t care what they were. They just knew they had bones from a grave and that was enough to tell a story.

Bone tested for "Manson Speaks inside the Mind of a Madman"

I would say six weeks or so pass by and I got a call from the producer. He told me he had good news and bad news for me. The immediate thought in my head was that they were animal bones and they were still using them for the documentary, so I would get paid. I was so wrong! He said “are you sitting down? The bones you have are human is the good news, and the bad news is that you have brought unknown human remains on to a movie production and the network, by law, has to report this information to the local authorities ,which in my case was the LAPD, L.A. County Sheriffs Dept. and the L.A. County Coroner and they at the History Channel were now informing me those agencies would be contacting me soon about these bones I have.

The results as they come up on the computer as positive for Human remains.

It made me feel a bit weird. I was waiting for a call from the Police about bones I have in my garage and they actually were of a murder victim from a very famous case occurred 50 years ago. It almost made me feel like I was in some sort of trouble, or maybe they would have thought I was a Dexter character or something. It had me a bit uneasy until they finally called. The police wasn’t taking the case as seriously as I had in my mind because they asked me how I got them. I explained it to them and they took it down on paper. They told me how I probably found pieces of ribs and other parts they hadn’t retrieved and left behind when they exhumed it originally. They were determined not to be hand bones; they were more like pieces off the rib bone that had deteriorated over the decade in the grave. They explained me that they were Shorty Shea: his bones were now my property if I wanted them and I could do as I wished with them. Of course I wanted them and I immediately got an urn molded in bronze to look like a pair of cowboy boots and a hat. That is where they reside to this day.

Shorty's Bones Today .

When this show finally made it to television, the producer and a retired LAPD police office were being recorded watching the live feed on a laptop here in Los Angeles from the DNA clinic in Colorado. They were now ready to provide the results whether the bones were human or not. When they start the video call with the clinic you can see on their faces they have no faith at all about these bones being human. I know they were expecting what I had originally told them, that they were most likely animal bones. It’s all about building drama in these shows so they were taking it slowly.

Professor of Forensic Sciences Dr. Robert Allen who tested the bones.

They explained the story briefly, and then the examiner from Colorado DNA facility they had hired came on screen and says they were human. You can clearly watch in it the producer and cops face as both mouths drop simultaneously in disbelief, that was actually reality television there because they never expected that result since day one, nor did I honestly. But now it wasn’t some bad joke or rumor anymore: it was reality, I now really had the dead Hollywood stuntman, the one from once upon a time in 1969’s tumultuous Hollywood history. All along it was his remains in my Pandora’s Box of souvenirs I had collected over 30 years prior.

They was not expecting that answer you could clearly see.

This rabbit hole kept getting even deeper for me when the authors of a book about Shorty Shea came to visit me: they were interested in the other thing I had pulled out of the grave that everyone else overlooked. They photographed and filmed it along with the urn with Shorty in it and went on to research it further. The Book is called: "Charles Manson and the Killing of Shorty" Shea By Ed Colin and Deb Silva. As an eight-year-old, Edwin Colin, the author of this book, knew Shorty Shea. It was 1953 when Colin's father was hired to be a full-time foreman at nearby Corriganville, Ranch the same one used as Spahn Ranch in Once upon a time in Hollywood.

Ed Colin and myself at Shorty's Grave at Spahn Ranch.

They would first tell me it was doubtful, but then later with markings they would find that not only I did have the murder victim, but I also had the possible murder weapon that killed him. That Infamous pipe wrench that is mentioned in Helter Skelter that they originally hit him with, yes, I have that too. I really don’t look at all this as some Ghost story really. I sort of get it because it is said in folklore as long as you mention a person’s name they never die, so with all this of me searching for Shorty maybe he really had found me. That isn’t such a scary thing is it?

Murder Weapon

But it doesn’t end there because in the beginning of this story I said the most recent thing to happen was just last Saturday August 28, 2021 at the Spahn Ranch down by that cave again, and again I have witnesses and photographs that came from my friends iPhone camera. This was actually the part of the story that triggered me to, where I’d tie 40 years of random things together in my head and that was what inspired me to write this story starting from the middle to the ending. Now -finally- I’ve made it too the beginning.

It was August 9, 2019 and I was part of an exhibit on Charles Manson in Los Angeles and it was there where I met a retired attorney. We first started talking about my case. It was also around the time of Quentin’s movie , the exhibit was named “Once upon a time in 1969” ; the promoter thought it was a good idea to show the tie in between the actual murder victim Shorty Shea with the stunt double character in the movie and how they closely related. Shorty at this exhibit had his own glass case that explained all of it and he was on the shelf in the new urn I had bought him. The movie program with the actor stunt double was beside him and the murder weapon pipe wrench below him. I even gave a speech on the real stuntman as a few hundred people looking on gazed right at Shorty the actual Hollywood stunt man who did appear in some movies too, once upon a time. I am sure he would have appreciated it being recognized the way he was.

Lethal Amounts Los Angeles 2019 with Shorty.

My attorney friend filmed everything at those shows. Then, later, he asked me if I could one day give him a tour of Spahn Ranch. I said yes. Well, two years would pass when he saw my advertisement on the website of tours and contacted me again, still interested. We made the date for last Saturday. We would meet at 10:00am at Santa Susana Pass road and Redmesa road on the same spot Shorty was murdered exactly 52 years and two days to the day. It was all by complete coincidence because I had no idea the day, he picked it and I had told him to meet me up the road a bit so ,when I went looking for him, I found him there.

Where we met that day and the spots we visited August 28, 2021

It was him along with a younger couple and me and we proceeded to talk about - yep -Shorty. I told them everything I just wrote in this article because, as I said, this was really the beginning of the story all along. I told them everything in that visit, including the part of the cameraman and the Blurryman. It was all in fun and we had a great time. They listened to me, filmed me and we took all the pictures on their phone -the latest up to date iPhone, I might add.

Barry, Dave and Monica as my witnesses can tell you when we got to the cave they were amazed like all those who first see it live in person and -of course- wanted photos in it .I took several photos for them with their camera. Then Barry said “Why you don’t get in some too?!” as most people do telling me I am some sort of star of the tour and other nice stuff. As soon as I finished telling them all these stories, the first thing that came to my mind was what came out of my mouth. I hesitated a bit walking to the photograph spot saying I am not sure if I should, I am now a bit nervous I won’t be blurry in the photos: I don’t want to be the only one whose face shows up here. We took the pictures and the day was now coming to an end. I had asked if they could share the pictures with me, basically the ones with me are the ones I was really interested in and they agreed they would share them all.

Me telling them about Charles Manson's music rock.

It would be a few days later and I would get a message from them. They said that they had a great time and wanted to thank me. They sent me a bunch of pictures they took of me showing them around and telling them of the things I have written here. They also gave me the picture of us we took in the cave, the one that inspired me to tell this story. But in it I am not the star of the tour like they claimed I would be. I have come to wonder now if, maybe, Shorty is. I am just the guy telling the story, that guy who shows up in all the episodes as the Blurryman. If you plan a trip to the cave at Spahn Ranch and you just sense the presence of someone close to you, and it seemingly comes out of nowhere... I would suggest to you to remember what the old wives tales say: when you say the name of a person who has died, every time you do it you keep them alive. And yes, watch out for the rattlesnakes there too: they will actually kill you!

When I was visiting with a few friends 2 days and 52 years to the day after he was killed we talked a lot about Shorty, the Blurryman and the glowing face, the Twilight Zone… I also mentioned the episode by the cave, and that had me think that I needed to write about all the events related to the Blurryman, events that always seem to only happen at the cave. You, as a reader, can decide for yourself what you think be: it’s a figment of my imagination; I am a good story teller or a bad one or just nuts, its fine. I have only written my thoughts; I am not trying to convince you.

This is a picture from the same ones I showed above, it is me talking to the same people, with the same camera. They handed me the phone. I took many photos of them in the cave and the screen was crystal clear. I gave him his own phone back in order to take a picture of me there. I hesitate before repeating the same words: “I hope I am the one who is the blurry one in it!” This thought could make you quite uncomfortable; imagine if you were the only one who isn’t blurred! As you can see below, I was just that the Blurryman again. Was it all by coincidence?

The picture of us in the cave August 28, 2021

I am not really sure if anyone talked about the stuntman Jerome Donald “Shorty” Shea before we did back during that filming of Death Dealers since his body was discovered in December of 1977, 8 years after his death. I would find more of his bones in 1987 around December, 16 years after his death. His autopsy report identified him as "foreman of the ranch". While his remains are buried in this nondescript unmarked community plot in Angeles Abbey Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California. That was until Scott Michaels of Dearly Departed Tours paid to have Shorty’s name attached to the marker. A grave where six people are interred, but only two are even acknowledged. Shorty, for all those years, went by as sort of the Blurryman himself, the guy behind the scene in every episode, but always showing up in them as this Blurryman. Who knows if I found Shorty or if it was Shorty actually finding me. Whatever that case may be, I think he is happy that someone has now recognized him for the person he was rather than just some name. He has credits at the end of the episode but never was the leading man and not even the unseen stuntman anymore: he was now the Blurryman. Therefore, showing up as the same character, has become a sign to me, maybe from him. It is not some Ghostly practical joke or some sort of indication to see the next person who may die if you can see their face. I don’t see myself as the Blurryman because that is Shorty’s part in each episode of the stories told. I only find myself as a conduit, the guy who can see things maybe others overlook. When you head down to the cave, stop and listen, look around and observe what you see there. I can spot the foreman of the ranch making appearances there still today. When you see a Blurryman check the picture closely: one of them is certainly Shorty Shea.
